Are the holidays really over?!

Wow!  In the blink of an eye, their gone!  The holidays that is... Well not quite gone yet as New Year's Eve is tomorrow.  One more blink and that will be gone as well :(
BUT!  With the ending of the holidays, means a New Year is upon us!  Yay!  That is a new start for me every year!  What are your New Year's Resolutions?  Do you make any?
I plan on being more organized to hopefully squeeze a few more hours out of one day!  With Pinterest a fave on my bookmarks bar, I have found a ton of amazing blogs, tutorials, and DIY projects I hope to one day try.  Not to mention all the organizing and homemaking bloggers I've found!  There are some really amazing and talented people out there!  I've added a couple of their blog buttons on my page here, make sure you check them out one day real soon!
So, with my organization goal for 2012, maybe I should start with the blog huh?  Not much to organize though as I don't make it here too often :(

Ok anyway, the new year hasn't started yet so I can still post a few pics of Christmas Cards I made right?
I did a card count in my head and I think I managed to squeeze out 20-something hand made Christmas Cards this season... AMAZING! (for me anyway...)  I'm sure there are thousands of people who've squeezed out hundreds more, but it's my first year so 20-something is Awesome!  LOL :)

Ok, all these cards are 4" x 6".  They are actually quite simple and thanks to my Cricut machine & Art Philosophy Cartridge, they didn't even take long at all!

This first picture is two of the shapes I used from the AP Cart, both are using the same button and both cut at 1 1/2".

Then I took the inside of the white square and stamped a Snowflake on it from my "Holiday Magic" stamp set.  I used the "Twilight" blue ink for this card.  It seemed to match nicely with my "Believe" paperpak that I used for the red/green/blue squares.

Holiday Magic stamp set.

So there you see the (almost) finished project. I used 3D foam tape to make the squares "pop" from the page.

A bit of red velvet ribbon across the bottom (adhered to the back of inside cover w/liquid glass); and voila!  Card is finished.  Inside, I quoted a bible verse, Luke 2:11; and pasted a family picture on the inside as well.
The "gift" card beside it was actually even easier to make, as all I did was cut random sized squares out of my "Wonderland" paperpak (scraps actually) and adhered a ribbon to it topped with a bow.  Again, bible verse on inside & family pic!

The last card was actually a mess up... :(  But a mess up turned beautiful I think!  I had actually thought I could fit my picture on the back of the tag and done... Wrong!  I cut it too small....:(  Soooo, then came this idea of attaching it to a card base!  Woo hoo!!!  So after deciding how I was going to place this "tag" on my card; I stamped the tree shape stamp from my "Holiday Wishes" stamp set and 3D'd the tree over top!  Tied a little red velvet ribbon on top and stamped Merry Christmas & To You and Yours along the side and bottom of the tree!  ... And breathe.... LOL

I guess you can't see where I've stamped the sentiments but Merry Christmas is stamped running down the left side of the tree & To You and Yours is stamped on the bottom sort of right corner of the tree.
Christmas Cards Complete!  Now, my next project is to make a bunch of random Birthday Cards... I'm thinking the "gift" one above will make a nice birthday card as well... Hmmm... multi-purpose card!!  I LOVE IT!!

Thanks for reading!  Check back soon!  (I promise, I will update more than once a month in 2012!)
God Bless you in your New Year!!!

Christmas Cards!!!

Hi all!  Look at me ... 2 blog entries already for December!!  Woot woot!!
So here are my awesome Christmas Cards that I have been working on for the last few days.
I used the Close to My Heart "Wishes" Card Confidence Program How-to book.  There are 3 card workshops in the book that will walk you through step-by-step in creating your cards.  The instructions even show you whether to use cardstock or B&T Duos paper.  The one I used was the Greeting Card workshop. The paper pack I used for my cards is the Believe package also from Close to My Heart.
All the products I use are CTHM products; and they are available on my website - (with the exception of Constant Campaign items and Stamp of the Month)  www.tinawolfe.myctmh.com

On the first card, the stamped sentiment comes from the Stamp set "Holiday Wishes" which was the November Constant Campaign.  The mistletoe stamp is from the October Stamp of the Month; and the itty-bitty bit of gold glitter is the Glitter gel.

The second card also uses the "Holiday Wishes" stamp set and a few of the brads - Green Assortment.  When you follow the step-by-step instructions and also use the pre-made paper packs, these cards should be completed in just a few hours; with the exception of embellishments of course :)  However, sometimes fewer embellishments and keeping the cards simple results in beautiful cards as well :)

This one is one of my fave's!  Using the  "Holiday Cheer" stamp set for both the sentiment as well as the ornament and adding random dots of Silver Glitter Gel makes this card simple yet beautiful!

Card #4 used the Green Ass't brads and then the December Stamp of the Month for the "Dec" stamp.

For Card #5, I used the November CC Stamp set once again for the sentiment as well as the stars.  Then I traced the stars with my most favorite CTMH product of all.... Liquid Glass.  This gives it a "glassy" look and a "puffy" texture, similar to puff paint perhaps....?

This workshop gave me 16 cards; 2 of each design.  Yes I know, I only posted 5 of them... I had already handed out a handful of cards before I realized I had no pics yet!  The nice thing about these workshops is that you can rotate the cards therefore giving you even more variation so not         each and every family member gets the same card!
So, there you have it!  We had family pictures taken in the fall, by my light-breaking sister (from the birthday post)... who did a FABULOUS job btw, and I matted the pics and attached them to the inside of the cards.  Voila!  My Christmas cards and family pics are ready to be handed out to each and EVERY one of my God-given family members.
And just in case I don't get to post again before Christmas, as concerts, programs, and parties are quickly approaching;  I want to wish every one of you, A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!  May we all take the time to celebrate the birth of our greatest gift of all; Our Savior, Jesus Christ!

Thank you all for reading my posts!
Tina Wolfe

PS- Big Announcement coming real soon from CTMH!!!  Stay tuned!!!

Friday 2 December 2011

Oh my GOODNESS!! It's December already?!

I have really not kept up with my blog through all of November?!  I suppose the calendar doesn't lie right?  Well, I have had a REALLY busy, busy November.  I'll try to keep this post as short as November was :)  LOL
So, first of all :)  And totally NOT CTMH related - All three of my beautiful blessings are November babies, so needless to say... I had 3 birthday parties to plan and hold :)  One of the highlights of one of the "sleepover"  parties was these AWESOME goodie bags!

Here is my AWESOME sister who agreed to "help" me with the bags :)  Hi Sarah!  And would you believe these awesome women could not work the double threaded sewing machine BUT we could totally work the 4 threaded serger... LOL ... go figure :)

So we had a pattern but I altered it due to the sewing machine not working.... The other bag would have been way cool too but here's how we made these bags.
1) We started with a pillow case (purchased a set of two @ the dollar store for a buck!)
2) Then we cut out a "U" shape from the top - as pictured here

3) Then I, (Ok Sarah actually) serged around the part that is going to be the strap and the bottom of the "U" which is the opening of the bag

Awesome serging job Sarah! LOL :)

Below is the "U" piece that was cut out and I plan on recycling that by sewing around the sides and bottom and attaching a strap to make yet another bag :)

4) Lastly, we tied a knot in the two straps and Voila!  Bag was complete!  The girls LOVED them!  And I filled (ok not all the way full) of nail polish, homemade lipgloss, playdough and bubbles and of course candy :)

And the bags can also be used as messenger style bags :)

So then... the day of the party I baked and decorated the cake for my dear 8 yr old daughter :)
Decorating was quite simple as you can see, however splitting the reese's pieces into colors was a little time consuming :)

I must say the cake was AWESOME!  However, I did note that for next time, I will not load the cake with reese's pieces when all the girls are staying for a sleepover :)  LOL ... imagine, five 8yr old girls up till all hours of the night trying to work off a sugar rush... It really doesn't result in a lot of sleep :)
All in all, it was an AWESOME birthday party and the kids had a ton of fun!!

So after all the girls were picked up the next morning, I scrambled to tidy the house and decorate cake #2 for the weekend!
This time is was for the 5 yr old boys... Ya four 5 yr old boys, one a little younger than that and one 6 yr old girl... Oh and my nephew (who did awesome card tricks for entertainment!) and my other AWESOME sister... LOL!  Oh yeah it was interesting to say the least!

That was my awesome cake!  It tasted fabulous!! I started with a chocolate cake, frosted in chocolate of course :)  Then I scooped out a hole and spread some Oreo crumbs in the hole and dumped a little pile beside the hole; then plopped a bobcat on it and called it done!  The kids (especially the birthday boy) LOVED it!  The kept asking if the bobcat really made that hole in the cake...??? I'll never tell... mwahhaa :)

That's my handsome 5yr old birthday boy!  He had to have a mohawk for the day... What do mom's know about making a mohawk??? !!

And just a few of his little gifts from the party guests :)  And through-out this whole 2hr birthday party... the kids were awesome!  As I mentioned earlier, my nephew entertained with card tricks and his mom entertained .... well... by being herself!  LOL :)  And the only damage we incurred was the fact that entertaining sister kinda sorta broke my kitchen pendant light while unscrewing the broom from the handle for limbo....  Ya... the biggest kid of all... broke my light fixture!!! Ah... wouldn't change the weekend for anything!!!
Thanks for reading :)  Let me know how/what you do for your kids' birthday parties!  I would love some more ideas for next year!!

My very first EVER 3D Cardstock Cake!

Hello there,
Thanks for stopping by "One woman'scrap".  You'll have to forgive me as updating my blog hasn't exactly become routine for me yet.  One day folks... one day :)
Anyhow, let me show you what I have been working on lately!  I'm so super excited!!  It's my very first 3D Cardstock Cake!!!! Yay!!! Do I sound excited yet??? Can you feel my energy??!!! It wasn't actually as hard or time-consuming as I had first thought it to be :)  Which is always a bonus... Don't you love when that happens?  I had been putting this cake project off for some time now, purely out of fear of the unknown...

A co-worker mentioned to me in passing conversation that her birthday was coming up and because of her weight loss plan; she couldn't even have birthday cake!  Well let me tell you... this woman is AMAZING!! She has stuck to her diet; kept her temptations at bay; and has willpower I can only dream about having!  So only thing for me to do was to make her a cake right?!  LOL ... ur probably thinking "that's a pretty mean idea..."  But hey!  I didnt' say she could eat it... she could only look at it... So it has to be beautiful right?!
So.. here's the end result... I'm going backwards here simply because I can't wait to show you!!!

Pretty isn't it?  Now follow along and I'll show you how I made one of these gorgeous little cakes !!
First off, I HAD to get one of these FABULOUS machines;I can't imagine how I went this long without one :)

You see that Cricut Cartridge?  That is BRAND NEW from Close to My Heart!  Yup...and it's available exclusively through CTMH Independent Consultants.  This cartridge has 700 designs on it!  Yes... 700!!  (Do any cartridges have THAT many??)  PLUS... when you order this cartridge, you also get 3 full size stamp sets AND 3 pages of chipboard dimensional elements that are all coordinating with images on the cartridge!  Amazing!!!!  OHHH and the best part?  You can have it all for $109.95 CDN.!!! Now THAT ladies is a steal!!!  I will let you know at the end of this post how to get one of these awesome cartridges :)
Ok... so if you're still with me...and haven't jumped to go get your hands on one of these cartridges... let's move on :)
So next step is to cut out all of the shapes needed to create your cake... and.... they will look something like this...

When you cut your patterns on the Cricut, it will show you where you need to "score" it, so it will fold easier. For this project, I've traced out where your score lines should be.
With this project, using the "pillow box" design you'll see the narrow, outside edge and that's where you'll want to apply a little adhesive and attach it to the opposite side on the next piece and once you have all 3 of the larger pieces attached it should look like so....

This is where the "scoring" will be appreciated... Your pattern will fold easily and then, you can go ahead and close off the ends to form a hexagon. Now my "cake" (trust me; it will be a cake), when standing, will have a whole lot of curves on top and bottom.  In each little "valley" at the end of each curve, I made a small cut so it was easier to fold over.  Then I folded over the top and bottom tabs (curves), so I had a surface to attach the top and bottom pieces. (See #1).  My cake now stands flat... well... sort of.  And the top has a gaping hole ... LOL ... Then I traced the hexagaon shape; either top or bottom, don't matter; on a piece of cardstock.  Make sure you are using the same color cardstock as the "cake layer" you're working on.  Then adhere your flat hexagon to the top and bottom of your cake layer.  (See #2).
Apparently, I forgot to upload a picture of the flat hexagon shapes.  Well, you probably get the point... it's a hexagon... that you traced :)

#1

#2

Looks good doesn't it?!  Just kidding.. it gets better yet :)
Ok, bottom layer of cake... Check!
Now I went ahead and repeated the same technique with my second layer.  FYI...You can use any type of adhesive to attach your cake pieces together, layers and all. ( I used a little Tombow and a little Liquid Glass )

Like my Folgers can in the background?  They make awesome lil' scrap buckets... and they smell good too :)
By now I have 2 layers of the cake and onto the 3rd layer.
Then comes the best part!  Making your flowers for the cake :)  These flowers and the tag all come from the Close to My Heart cartridge as well.  All the cutting is done for you and you just have to roll them.  How easy is that?!
You see some of the flowers I've already rolled and some of them are hot off the press :)  I like to "edge" all my flowers just to add a little depth and maybe a reality aspect to them.

This is what the 3 layer cake looks like now... then you just add your flowers where you want them to go.  This is where i used the Liquid Glass.  The little silhouette of a flower came out of the tag that I cut on the Cricut as well, which in the end, I decided not to use on my cake.  (Put that one away for another project.)

And here is the end result of my 3D Cardstock cake :)  First ever and let me tell you.. My co-workers were amazed at the results!  That is what makes these little projects well worth it :)  Seeing that smile on someone's face ...

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading.  I've been told a time or two (Lisa...!) that sometimes my instructions are a little confusing and I hope I haven't made it sound too difficult for you :)  I do not want to discourage you from trying one of these cakes...  It is late in the day.. (that's my story and I'm stickin to it!)
Hope you had fun!  If you have any questions please, please email me :)

Goodies :)

Hello Ladies (& gentlemen if any of you read this..)
Hope you've all had time to get some scrapbooking in .. I know I have!  And let me tell you, I am LOVIN' it!  3 evenings in this last week I've actually managed to work on some of my layouts, as well as a display album I'm working on for my desk.
I painted & stamped the cover of the album, and I've completed 6 pages (single-sided of course..), THEN, today I received my new stamps of the month and NEW catalogues for Autumn/Winter 2011.  Anyhow,  I'll be showing off the new catalogue and stamps of the month at my Open House, (date to be determined yet), in August of course.
Back to my album in the works... I thought about putting mini layouts on the one side of the page, and a month by month calendar on the flip (back) side, and now I've got a neat little stamp (te he he) that will help me do just that!  I will take pics of my album in the works and post them in the very near future!  I'm excited at all the amazing creations I can come up with... display albums, calendars, I've even come up with my own pattern ideas in my little book :)
Ok, I'm off to plan some more exciting things ... (top secret of course) for my Open House!!!  If anyone is interested in attending, please email to tinawolfe@myctmh.com and I will be sure to fill you in on all the details!

New catalogues + new stuff + lower prices??? = more fun workshops!

Hello again everyone!
Well, while most of the Close to my Heart consultants, directors, and leaders are out at convention (@ Disneyland!!!), I'm at home, reading all their posts and getting sooo excited at all the new products and pics I see :)  Then I realize... What an awesome past-time I have!!
I will upload some of my artwork for you all to see and make sure you check out the YouTube video at the bottom of my blog for some cool ideas!
The ideas don't end there... contact me for a catalogue and see for yourself!  We've got everything and then some to get your memories preserved for a life-time!  Think... 10, 20, maybe 50 years down the road when you're sitting with your family looking at all your photo books; will you remember what's happening in the pictures?  Will you remember which baby is in this stroller?  What about how you all felt that day at that moment?  Take the time now to journal these memories so you can pass them on for generations to come!  Trust me, I have 3 kids and their ages are 9,7, & 4.  I have a hard time now already trying to figure out which baby is which daughter!  Pretty sad considering I'm only 30-something :)
Well, this past week, I've made 2 cards for a very special anniversary, and helped a dear friend make another one.  I can't tell you how much fun it is to get together with friends and brighten up someone's day with a card!  One that you yourself put alot of love into!  I'll try to get pictures up of those as well.

Fun fact for the day... when making cards, lay the paper flat on your hand or tabletop and the paper should naturally curl.  If not, flip it over and look again.  One side will curl up slightly at the edges.  You want to work with that natural curl and make sure you fold your card base in that direction.  :)
Happy Scrapbooking All!!

Stay tuned for updates on the new supplies and new catalogue... There may also be some news of a new, lower priced start-up kit... Interested yet?  I know I am... and I'm anxiously awaiting my new catalogues :)
Nite everyone!

Friday 1 July 2011

It's been a week...

Hello everyone!
Well it's been a week and I've accomplished absolutely NOTHING, in regards to my scrapbooking!  I suppose that's expected when summer begins right?  The weather has been beautiful and the kids are done school now, so naturally things get a little more hectic right?
I did however, manage to get my Close To My Heart website going so be sure to check that out and the best part is... You can see the idea books, see some creative ideas, the kits and layouts, stamps etc.  And if you feel the urge... you can order right from there!  How easy is that?  I don't know about you ladies, but I would much rather shop online!  No kids whining in the store, no long line ups, no grouchy cashiers... you get the point :)
So, what do you do once you've checked out the website?  You give me a call and we'll schedule a night for you and your friends to get together (at my house or yours) and we'll put together a plan of what you would be interested in creating.  Then I'll place the order for all the supplies and you invite all your friends, and we'll have such a great time creating whatever it is that you picked for your "gathering".  The best part is ... it's like no other "party" you've ever been to or hosted!  You know how it goes.... you book your party, you invite all your friends, you bake and prepare all kinds of munchies and drinks, the consultant comes and pressures all your friends to buy, buy, buy, before they've even tried any of the product!  You end the night feeling tired, and pressured to push your sales higher and higher and you have tons of food and dishes to clean up, right?  (insert apology here to all my friends who are consultants with other businesses... No offense meant to any of you!)  Well not with me!  That's where Close To My Heart is set apart from all the other home parties.  You DON'T do ANYTHING except invite people!  And it's called a "gathering" not a home party.  You don't make any munchies (after all you don't wanna dirty any of your creations right?)  I will show up on time, and we get started creating!  I will show you and your friends how to create and showcase ALL your precious memories in just a few hours, AND they'll leave with their masterpiece!  (The only cost involved is just a few dollars for the kit, that they get to keep!)
Then, if you decide you and your friends would like to keep doing something like the gathering monthly, we'll set up a night once (or maybe twice) a month and do it over and over and over again!  Think about it... One night a month, no kids, just friends, and a whole lot of creating masterpieces!  And no pushing for you to get your sales higher and higher!
Ask me how you can get started with a gathering or start up a monthly "workshop" for you and your friends!  And of course, there is always a bonus for the hostess!  (You don't even have to have the 'most-ess' of anything!) LOL ... ya I know... Lame joke :)
Anyway, laundry is awaiting to be folded for this busy mom, and chicken breast is waiting to hit the grill, so I'll be back next week!

Welcome!

Welcome to One Womans"scrap"!  It all started in April 2011, when a dear little old lady started talking, (and so you know... she hasn't stopped!) about "Close to my Heart" scrapbooking merchandise and creations.  Her idea, and a "Close to my Heart" initiative, inspired her to start a scrapbooking club.  Well, 3 months and umpteen scrapbook pages later... I decided to sign up myself!  Now I haven't stopped talking about it!  I'm telling you, scrapbooking does some weird things to you!
I invite you to follow my blog as I start my journey as a "Close to my Heart" Independent Consultant!  It's going to be an exciting journey for me as well as my family.  My goal for the future is to be able to quit my full-time job as Office Manager with a Home Medical Equipment franchise; to be a full-time stay at home mom and "Close to my Heart" scrapbooking leader and mentor.  I hope you will enjoy reading about my Scrapbooking adventures as I learn and try to teach you what I've learned from my favorite scrapbooking teacher... my MOM!! Thanks to her, I am now deeply enthralled and excited at all the AMAZING creations I have made... and you can too!!
Stay tuned for some awesome pictures of my creations!!
